Countdown to Christmas

An Accidental Christmas, my fourth book in the Italian Romance series, began life five years ago, which is a long time by any writer’s standards. So why did it take so long? Christmas was the culprit.
My heroine, Ursula, first appeared in Perfect (book 1 in Italian Romance) and I wanted her to have her own Happy Ever After. And what better time to find the love of your life than Christmas? So I did some research, and discovered a medieval town in Italy which celebrates Christmas with the most wonderful festivals based on ancient traditions and, full of inspiration, I wrote a few chapters. But not quickly enough. Christmas came and went, and I thought, never mind, there’s always next year.
Then next year came and went again, with only a few more chapters added. And then, you guessed it, so did another and then another. But when this year rolled around I was so much closer to typing ‘The End’ that I became obsessed, and didn’t stop until the book was finished. Phew! It was published in early December and I think Ursula will be very pleased with her Happy Ever After. I would be. Demetrio is kind, loving, sexy, handsome and totally besotted with her.
But now I look around and there’s my own Christmas looming for which I am completely unprepared. I need a tree, I need to dust off the decorations stored in the garage, I need presents, and cards. But more than anything else I need time. But there’s always next year, isn’t there?
Happy Christmas! Meri Kirihimete! Joyeux Noel! Frohe Weihnachten! Krismasi Njema! Feliz Navidad! Feliz Natal! Eid Meelad Majeed! Hauskaa Joulua! Selamat Hari Raya! Schastlivogo Rozhdestva! And, (not least!) Buon Natale!! (Let me know any greetings I’ve missed!)
